Pega light gun for Wii

Probably better known as the Brando light gun because of the flood of articles linking to that online store that sold it, the Pega Wii gun (the only company name I could find on the box) is a plastic shell that you can insert your Wiimote into in order to get a more authentic light gun experience. I wasn't expecting a whole lot out of a no-name third party peripheral, and it offered no surprises.

The first thing I noticed was how big it really is. All of the pics on the net made this look small, but it's big. In fact it's just a little smaller than the Guncon 2, and it has good proportions so that you feel like you're holding a real gun. The plastic is a good, hard plastic that adds to the feel, and it has screws on the side which is good in case you have to get inside to fix or modify something. It has a sight on top for looks.

To use it you slide the Wiimote in from the front docking it with the connector found at the back. It's easy to do, and the process doesn't seem harmful to the Wiimote. Inside the gun the Wiimote fits snugly and shows no sign of coming loose even when upside down and shaken. The only downside about installation is that you have to remove the strap or it won't fit. Connecting the nunchuk is as easy as plugging it in at the bottom.

I tested this gun with Resident Evil 4 and Link's Crossbow Training. Unlike the Zapper this gun doesn't have a hair trigger. It mechanically pulls on the B button below the Wiimote with a long, poorly fitted piece of plastic. This makes for a long trigger pull in order to register a button press which makes the gun intolerable within seconds of use.  Quick shots are possible with this gun, but it puts too much of a strain on your hand and its not worth it. The nunchuk attachment worked fine.

As a light gun peripheral the Pega light gun is horrible. The most important feature of any gun is the trigger, and the trigger on this gun is barely capable of the quick, repetitive shots light gun games require. The trigger mechanism is poorly designed and obviously a cheap, lazy effort.

I GIVE THE PEGA LIGHT GUN FOR Wii A 3/10 [HORRIBLE]

PROS:
- Big
- Hard plastic

CONS:
- Only as accurate as the game/wiimote lets you be
- Long trigger pull
- Long pull + spring tires your finger out in seconds
- Must remove Wiimote strap

VALUE:
- Incredibly this gun sells for up to $20 + shipping, but I wouldn't take another of these guns if you gave it to me for free.
