Logitech LX310 Cordless Desktop
Every since my first Logitech mouse many years ago I've been a Logitech fan. Then products came along like the Logitech cordless action controller for the PS2 which made me even a bigger supporter. However, after a run-in with an inferior model of the CAC I started to have my doubts, and now I buy a new desktop from Logitech that while expensive doesn't deliver on the quality they used to.
I payed about $10 less for the LX310 than I did for my Logitech MX series desktop, but instead of feeling similar it feels about $25 cheaper. Let's start with the keyboard which has small, compressed buttons that have that squishy response. I like that the keyboard is compact and I don't mind the squishiness, but then we get to the specialty buttons around the edge and things start to go downhill. First of all these thin grey buttons look and feel like they are made out of the cheapest plastic available. Then they are loosely fitted in place which means they don't align properly. The home button on the right side is completely loose and rattles when I move the board around.
The mouse is equally smaller than usual, which I don't mind, but the wheel starts things off bad with more squishiness. I've never liked slow, squishy mouse wheels and this one is at the top of slow, squishy mouse wheels. Scrolling feels like I'm fighting the wheel in order to get it to move instead of easily gliding where I want it to. The middle button is equally bad as it's so squishy it's hard to press and hard to tell when you've pressed it. On the plus side the mouse has a power button that helps save your batteries on top of the battery saving tech it boasts and it has a low battery indicator at the top. The fact that you don't have to constantly recharge the mouse, can use whatever type of batteries you want and the significantly less clutter all that means is great and a big deal for me.
I bought this new desktop because it was more compact and I didn't have to worry about recharging the mouse everyday. Unfortunately while performing well the quality of this desktop is lacking even though the price isn't. I'm satisfied with it, but it should have been better.
I GIVE THE LOGITECH LX310 DESKTOP A 7/10 [GOOD]
