Wii has Huge March Sales - Still No AAA 3rd Party Support in Sight
The March NPD sales numbers are in and the Wii sold over twice as many consoles as the PS3 and 360. This isn't new however as the Wii has been outselling the competition for months now, but in spite of its incredible numbers high quality, AAA 3rd party games are nowhere to be found on the best selling console in gaming history.

PS3 - 257,000
These past few days game companies like Namco and Midway have been showcasing their upcoming games and in every conference the result is the same with the top franchises going to PS3 or 360 and some bullshit family game going to the Wii. Namco, for example, is making Soul Calibur 4 for PS360 and is even giving the 360 an exclusive HD version of Soul Calibur. What did Namco give the Wii? We Ski and We Cheer.
People keep saying that the good games will have to come - that 3rd parties can't ignore the Wii forever, but when is that going to happen? The Wii is already the #1 selling console, and it continues to blow the competition out of the water in sales every month so when are we going to get the GTAs and Rainbow Sixes of the videogame world?
I'm not asking this as a Nintendo fan or because I own a Wii. I'm asking this because in the entire history of videogames never has a scenario like this presented itself. The highest selling console always, always, always gets the most and best games. Always. Yet we are more than two years into this generation and the Wii continues to get snubbed by just about everyone. This is historical stuff folks. This is history in the making.
It's hard to believe, but I'm starting to think that the Wii will never see the top franchises of most game companies. In fact I'll be surprised if it gets many AAA games at all. It's unprecedented, but that's how this generation is playing out. The Wii's last hope is E3, and if companies don't start announcing their best stuff for the Wii there then don't expect to see it on the Wii... ever.
Wo, lets not jump to conclusions. The most profit can be found in the wii,
for its cheap to make games for it, and chances are itll sell. But it costs
a ridiculous amount of cash to delevop for the "next gen" consoles, thats
one of the reasons the wii is getting monster hunter 3, a game that looks
interesting and im looking forward to.If companies continue to develop for
the ps360, chances are they wont see profit. The development kits prises
for ps3 are outragous. So if video game companies dont want to get
bankrupt, theyll develop for wii. Sooner or later itll happen.
