Illinois Screws Healthcare to Pay for Anti-videogame Law

posted 26 March 2008, Wednesday

I've posted about the millions of dollars states have had to pay for stupid, fascist, unconstitutional anti-videogame laws, but now we are getting a detailed look at how fear mongering politicians have screwed over their taxpayers. After getting their anti-videogame law overturned, Illinois was ordered to pay 500,000 in lawyer fees on top of their own fees. Apparently this money came out of their healthcare program and now welfare, medicare and nursing homes aren't getting the money they need from the government.

Now the sick, old and needy people of Illinois, and probably all the other places that tried to pass these ridiculous laws, can't get properly taken care of because some idiot politicians decided that the government should get into the business of raising children and telling parents what their kids can't and can play.

This is the culture of child overprotection that I allude to so many times, but don't really talk about because this isn't a political blog. This culture is getting out of control and it will continue to push forward until kids are taken away from parents at birth and raised in some government sanctioned white room because government knows best.
