GT5:Prologue - It's a Demo - Get Over It

posted 16 March 2008, Sunday

The semantic nonsense that has risen thanks to Sony trying to rip off its GT5 fans by charging them twice for the same game is insane. I know fanboys love their games, but do we really need to start digging up definitions in order to justify paying $40 for a glorified demo? If you're unsure about paying Sony out the ass for something that's not a full game then don't buy it, but also don't try to justify the money raping Sony is giving you by making this demo out to be more than it is - a demo.

Some fans are angry at the insanity of paying $40 for a demo of a game they are going to be asked to pay $60 (or more), for later on, and they are totally right. Can you imagine if every game demo came with a few extra levels and a $40 price tag? The deal is that Sony knows this game is popular and knows it can milk it's stupid little fanboys dry(over a million of them), by selling them the same game twice. From the very beginning Sony planned GT5 to be a big money maker by forcing gamers to pay per car, track and other items - essentially raising the total cost of the game by more than a factor of 10. To date those microrapement plans have been put on hold, but the future of GT5 is still uncertain.
