No More Heroes Breaks 100,000 in North America

posted 15 February 2008, Friday

No More Heroes, the niche, low budget, hardcore game for the Wii, has sold over 100K since it launched last month in January. This is great news for a lot of reasons.

1. Goichi Suda, the developer, has never had a successful videogame in spite of his talent.

2. Goichi Suda and Grasshopper Entertainment have been faithful to Nintendo for a long time and it finally paid off.

3. No More Heroes is an excellent game that deserves recognition and sales.

4. A No More Heroes sequel is now possible

5. Another blow to the Nintendo third parties myth.

6. Ubisoft barely advertised the game

If you're into hardcore action games then don't miss out on No More Heroes. It's an awesome game that deserves to be played. I'm happy for Suda and the fact that he's always stuck to his guns and never dumbed down his games in order to appeal to the mainstream. Of course that makes it harder for his games to sell, but NMH wouldn't be what it is without his unique talent and vision. My hats off to him.

I also can't forget to say a big F*CK YOU! to all the publishers, like Ubisoft, who continue to poorly advertise their Wii games and send games like No More Heroes out to die.
