Nintendo Wii - 714,000 units sold
Xbox 360 - 188,000 units sold
Sony PS3 - 187,000 units sold
With numbers like these it's hard to see companies like Konami announce their utterly crappy Wii games with such fanfare. When will the big companies start to pay attention to these numbers? Will they ever? Is the videogame industry going to crash if the Wii continues to get ignored?
Also note that GTA4 came out in April and was supposed to sell tons of hardware. Imagine if GTA4 would have been on the Wii.
What I love is the fact that Nintendo’s “kiddy platform fad” is crushing
both of the “leaders” and has done so from the day it was introduced. I
also like watching the competition's Butt-Boys squirm while they try to
explain the FAD away. BWAH,HA,HA,HA Many months the Wii outsells both of
it’s competitors systems combined! I see plenty of XBOX & PS3 units
languishing on store shelves everywhere I go but if you want a Wii you need
to wait in line. That is if and when you can find them in stock! As of
Sept. 08 the Wii has sold 34.55 million units worldwide the XBOX sold 22
million and the lowly PS3 only 16.84 million. Even with the Wii’s crappy
video resolution, lack of a HDrive , lack of a Blu-gay player and lame game
line up it is still outselling PS3 2 to 1. But XBOX fanboys don’t really
have a whole lot to crow about the XBOX was released a year before either
the Wii or PS3 so a 5 million unit lead on the PS3 is to be expected but
how do they explain the Wii’s massive lead in sales? It comes from the
Wii’s unique controller system it has opened an untapped market of old,
older and oldest people that never gamed before and this market is huge and
growing everyday.
Another thing to remember is as of September 30th 2008 the company with the
highest number of million + selling games is Nintendo Wii with 229 million
"weak, lame" games sold compared to the PS3's 94 million and the 70 million
Xbox 360 games sold. And remember the Xbox had a year lead on its
competitors. The Wii dominates in hardware and software sales period.
