I read a book on how every medium creates one great company: animation created Disney, CBS was created by radio, NBC by television. Interactive entertainment is going to determine one great company and I think it's this one.
Above all, I'm trying to bring great quality and innovation back. I'm also trying to drive us towards a variety of new business models, whether it be subscription or micro-transactions, or advertising-based - John Riccitiello, CEO, EA
I hate really hate this guy, and I'm glad that I've gotten the opportunity to finally post this pic of him. I can't even look at his smug, arrogant face without wanting to punch it in. But I digress and want to direct your attention to his quote. Notice how he says that EA is going to be the videogame industry's greatest company then read how he says he wants to drive towards micropayments, subscriptions and in-game advertising. So in his mind being the greatest involves ripping gamers off and taking as much of their money as possible. Beautiful.
It's funny because pics like above show up on the internet because EA is already screwing gamers left and right, yet John here sees his company as God's gift to gamerkind. Their games are mediocre and their list of anti-gamer / anti-consumer actions grows everyday. Here's some of the things they've done in just the past few months:
1. Tried to steal GTA 4 from Take-Two just before its release to cash in on another's hard work.
2. Doubled the price of Rock Band in Europe.
All that just within the past few months. I just simply cannot understand how gamers continue to support this company and buy their games. EA has admitted it wants to screw you, their history proves that they screw you so what else do they have to do before people open their eyes?
