In this age of extreme political correctness where everyone feels the need to be offended and complain about every stupid little thing, videogames have taken another hit. Capcom is now under fire for their games Resident Evil 5 and Zack & Wiki. The former for alleged racism and the latter for including a muslim phrase in a game.
Many people knew it was going to happen, and just as predicted the hyper sensitive, controversy seekers have crawled out of their holes and begun the "RE5 is racist" chants. I expect things to only get worse as the game gets more exposure and bigger media outlets catch wind of the latest anti-videogame ratings getting controversy, and I only hope that Capcom doesn't cave like they did with Zack & Wiki.
See in Z&W there was a tiny muslim phrase spoken by natives in this pirate game, and somehow, someway the hyper sensitive noses of whiny muslim groups caught wind and complained. Capcom chose to cave to their insane demands and removed the phrase. I hope they are prepared for the shit storm that is on the horizon because now that these serial complainers have gotten their way only more complaints will follow.
It's times like these that I wish I made videogames or some sort of TV show so that I could insult, offend and piss off all of these whiny groups that seem to have nothing better to do than to patrol the earth in search of something to bitch and moan about. The best part is that these muslim groups choose to ignore the fact that in many muslim countries similar complaints or expression of free speech would get your hand chopped off or your daughter raped or some other similarly savage act.
More importantly where is the ESA in all of this? Where is the head of the ESA standing up for the industry's right to express themselves freely? If the videogame industry wants any hope of being taken seriously anytime soon they better get off their ass and start fighting back against such ridiculous calls for censorship and political correctness.
