Resident Evil 4 (Wii)

This is going to be more of a quick review since Resident Evil 4 is an old game and content-wise this Wii version is little more than a better looking version of the PS2 game. That said, I must tell you that I haven't been this excited over a third-person shooter or a Resident Evil game in years. YEARS! This game literally has me glued to the TV, and having to turn the game off has me suffering from withdrawal.
Without a doubt the reason I'm loving this game so much is because of the new controls. Granted, I've never played this game with a traditional controller, but I've played enough analog stick hooky to know how bad it can be. The controls for this game are spot on, extremely accurate, and whatever other adjectives you want to use. They are so good that it makes the game more fun. I'm having such a blast popping zombies that I already know I'm going to play through the game multiple times. These are the types of controls that belong on a shooter like this. Quick aiming, amazing accuracy and loads of fun.
I'm a little embarrassed since I'm gushing all over the controls, but they are indeed that damn good. The times the Wiimote has not registered a motion are few, and even then there is a good chance that I was to blame and not the controls. Without a doubt RE4 has debunked the myth that the Wii's controls can't be great.
This game is an extra special treat for me since this is my first time playing it, and I happen to be playing the definitive version. Best of all was the $30 price tag. If you are into these types of games you need to buy RE4 Wii Edition. It raises the bar for all shooter type games on the Wii - hell any console, and I honestly don't know how I can ever go back to playing a shooter with analog sticks ever again. That would be like ditching a Shelby Cobra in order to drive a Ford Focus.
I GIVE RESIDENT EVIL 4 WII EDITION A 10/10 [CLASSIC]
Value Bias +
PROS:
- All the content of the PS2 version with Gamecube visuals
- Absolutely amazing controls
CONS:
- The Shops in the middle of enemy territory element is stupid, lazy, cheap and should never be done in any game
- Few if any improvements were added for the Wii
- Leon's turn speed is too slow - especially when combined with the Wiimote's quick aiming
VALUE:
- This game is a good deal at $30 especially if you've never played it before
