The other day I rented the horror flick Hostel to see what all the buzz was about. It is an R rated film meaning that you have to be 17 or older to watch it. The movie contained loads of nudity, a couple sex scenes and a lot of graphic violence. Manhunt 2 is pretty much the videogame equivalent of Hostel, but for some reason it's being treated like a hardcore porno movie that you have to buy in a shady, out of the way sex parlor.
Clearly there is a large disconnect between videogames and movies, and Manhunt 2 has suffered for it. Now Rockstar has to censor their game in order to get an M rating because hardware companies like Nintendo don't allow AO games. Maybe one day videogames will evolve past the kiddie stigma that so many politicians and watchdog groups have created.
