With Vice City Stories launching in a couple months the amount of info about the game will continue to grow, and today we have yet more info about the game thanks to Games Magazine. Of course all of this info should be taken with a grain of salt since, as I've pointed out, info about GTA games has an uncanny knack for being erroneous.
Anyway, some new tidbits about VCS are:
- Binoculars can be used at any time
- "Improved physics, prettier skylines, and far more dynamic lighting"
- New rocket launcher
- "Time-contextual NPC behaviour (party-goers at night, bums at 5am etc.)"
- Missions are now more complex requiring multiple tasks to be completed
- Water is a major element that Rockstar feels is key to the game
- Philip Michael Thomas makes a return as a voice actor
- Phil Cassidy can be found on a loading screen in the game
In the first Vice City I felt that the water element was completely under used even though we were supposed to be in a beach city. I really hope that the water plays a more significant role in this game and that you can do more in it than just drive around in boats. Also the thought of missions being more complex might not be such a good thing. GTA games are known for their sporadic difficulty and it would be a shame to have to deal with multi-tiered missions where you have to complete a bunch of things in a row before you can save your game. The world of GTA is largely random and it would suck to have to constantly retry missions because random events continually make you fail. I can't tell you how many times I've had some crazy ped driving a car run over someone I had to pick up in an ambulance while I was close to completing the mission.
Here are some more pics of Vice City Stories

The car in the pic is not a Ferrari as the magazine claims. It is supposed to be a clone of a Lamborghini
