Does Sony already have plans for PS3 add-ons?

Gameindustry.biz say that they have spoken with a Sony rep and have discovered some interesting things about the PS3. First of all they say that Sony denies all rumors that the $500 PS3 will not support wireless controllers, and they reaffirm that you will be able to install whatever size hard drive you want into your PS3. The new info comes in the form of add-ons by which, according to an anonymous Sony rep, your $500 PS3 will be able to have Wi-fi, and all of the memory card slots available on the $600 version.

I think this is a great idea, but I lament the fact that Sony didn't have the forsight to also make their Blue-ray drive an add-on. I can understand the need to make every PS3 Blue-ray compatible since Sony is only going to offer games in that format, but I still believe that gamers don't want to be forced into the HD format war. A lot of people don't have expensive HD TVs, and naturally don't care about paying hundreds of extra dollars on a gaming machine just because it boasts HD capabilities.
