I guess I missed it because of the holiday vacation I was enjoying, but apparently someone from Electronic Gaming Monthly has called out his industry and is accusing some videogame publications of corruption - namely selling good reviews and magazine covers. Now I'm not going to go into talk in detail about this, though it is interesting and important, because I have been saying this since I first began this website. Anyone with eyes who reads gaming mags should be able to see that there is something fishy going on - especially with big name titles that never seem to get a score below 8.
If you take my advice and only use gaming mags to learn about the facts of a game in order to make up your own mind you should be fine, but if you are reading gaming mags to depend on the word or opinion of some "pro" you are in for a world of disappointment.
I thought the scores SSX3 got were ridiculous. PSM gave it a friggin'
10/10! It wasen't even that great of a game if you played the previous two
SSX's. I can't count how many reviews were like this by countless
publications. People should never always go by reviews - what the hell is a
"pro" reviewier anyway? Someone that is better than all other reviewers?
Lame.
