Manhunt 2 Banned in the UK

posted 19 June 2007, Tuesday

It was inevitable. Someone, somewhere was going to ban this game. We all knew it. It was just a matter of time. I was thinking Australia would be the first to ban the game because of their well known censorship policy, but I'm surprised that the UK has been the first to officially do it. The game has been refused a rating and will not be allowed to sold on store shelves.

Against this background, the Board’s carefully considered view is that to issue a certificate to Manhunt 2, on either platform, would involve a range of unjustifiable harm risks, to both adults and minors, within the terms of the Video Recordings Act, and accordingly that its availability, even if statutorily confined to adults, would be unacceptable to the public. - British Board of Film Classification

It's amazing that now adults can't decide for themselves what is okay to play. Are people too stupid to think for themselves now? How about they just pick an emperor because the people are obviously too dumb to make any decisions. Also what kind of harm or risk does a movie or a video game entail? Ridiculous!
