Ghost Hunters Live

One of the perks of a holiday are the TV specials or marathons, and my new favorite is Ghost Hunters Live. It's a full 6 hours of ghost hunting and I stayed up all night watching it. I also watched the History Channel's new Monster Quest show which was really good. By 3AM my eyes were so heavy I thought I was going to collapse, but it was worth it just to see Elijah, the special ECW guest, get the crap scared out of him and run away with arms flailing about. I laughed so hard!

Making this edition of GHL extra special was the host Josh Gates from the show Destination Truth. He started out uptight, but quickly loosened up and let loose his characteristic humor which made the show that much better. I would have liked to have seen him do some investigating, but those two jokes he made more than make up for it.

The only thing that angered me was how elitist some of these people are when it comes to doing what they do. They had the finalists for the next ghost hunter contest and Steve was all like "you just can't come in here and think you can hunt ghosts". What BS! I wonder if these people actually watch themselves on TV and realize that walking around with a video camera, asking questions to the air can be done by anyone with a bit of common sense. The truth is that even they don't do a good job at what they are supposed to be experts at. If you pay attention most of them usually point the video camera to the floor while they're walking or start talking about stupid crap when they should be listening and observing.

This brings me to the two fat chicks who didn't do jack shit the whole six hours except walk around and talk about stupid stuff completely ignoring the ghosts. Best of all they think they are some sort of experts and even gave one of the contestants a hard time by insulting him instead of helping him learn. Again, a child can hunt ghosts if these guys are the standard of professionalism. There is nothing expert about what they do.

Even the lead investigators, Jason and Grant, don't do that good of a job. Most of the time their thermal sweeps are horrible with the camera pointed at a wall or the ground, and then they start joking around and having conversations when they should be observing. Don't tell me that somebody can't walk off the street and do what they do.

In spite of some of the Ghost Hunter's poor attitude, the show was entertaining, and it was no surprise that the best parts were with Jason and Grant who did the best job out of everyone. The camera work by the Sci-fi channel was mediocre at best, but at least they gave Kris' rear end plenty of air time. I look forward to next year's event.
